TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama secured a run-rule victory in seven innings with an 11-1 win over Mississippi State on Friday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

The Crimson Tide is now 23-9 on the season and 4-7 in Southeastern Conference play.

Alabama was first on the board with a five-run second that would prove more than enough. State was next to score with one in the top of the fifth but a three-run home half of that inning put the game at 8-1. The Tide then added two in the sixth with an RBI-single from Will Portera in the seventh ending things early.

Dominic Tamez led the Tide offense with a two-homer performance. The junior added a team-high four RBI and two runs scored to his stat line. Also homering was Ed Johnson, who finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Drew Williamson rounded out the multi-hit performances for UA, with the first baseman going 2-for-4 and adding three RBI, one run and a walk.

Luke Holman (5-1) earned the win in his start against the Bulldogs. The sophomore tossed 5.2 innings of one-run baseball, giving up three hits and walking a pair while striking out four. Alton Davis II also highlighted the effort on the mound, tossing 1.0 scoreless frame with two strikeouts.

"We came out hot. We had some good at-bats and took some borderline pitches to work some walks in. Obviously, the second inning we put up the five-spot, and then Luke (Holman) gave us a great start. Mississippi State helped us today - they walked us and gave us some free baserunners, but to our kids' credit we got some big hits. Ed Johnson and Drew Williamson came through and then Dominic Tamez with the two home runs today."

Postgame Notes

• The Crimson Tide recorded a season-high 12 walks. The previous season-high total was 10, which occurred twice and most recently against Alabama State on March 8.
• Alabama has totaled double-digit runs in 15 games this season. All 10 batters reached base safely on Friday.
• Nine of the 10 total players to see an at-bat contributed at least one run scored.
• Alabama has now homered in 26 games this season while recording multiple homers 18 times.
• Tamez homered twice for the second time in his career. It was the fifth time this season that an Alabama player has homered twice in a game and the first two-homer performance since Colby Shelton at Samford on March 7.
• Ed Johnson extended his hitting streak to seven games. Across the streak, Johnson is batting .483 (14-29) with a double, one home run, seven RBI, seven runs, two walks and a stolen base.
• Jim Jarvis has gotten aboard in 14 consecutive games dating back to March 16. Jarvis' hitting streak in SEC play ended at nine games. Over that stretch, the senior batted .371 (13-35) with three doubles, three home runs, seven RBI, 11 runs and nine walks.
