Coaches pick Alabama to win SEC cross country titles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 29, 2022)-----The Alabama men's and women's cross country teams have been predicted to claim the 2022 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships, as decided by a vote of the league's head coaches. The SEC on Monday released its 2022 SEC Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll. 

Points for the men's poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11 basis, while points for the women's poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13 basis. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.

The Alabama men garnered six first-place votes, Arkansas had five and Tennessee had one. The Alabama women received eight first-place votes, and Arkansas received six first-place votes.

The SEC cross country season is set to begin the weekend of Sept. 1, and the 2022 SEC Cross Country Championships are slated to take place Friday, Oct. 28 in Oxford, Miss.
