TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama baseball used a five-run eighth to put the game out of reach in a 13-6 win over Samford on Tuesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 30-12 on the season.

Both teams were scoreless through three innings of play with Alabama plating one in the fourth and two in the fifth for a 3-0 lead. Samford came back with a three-run sixth to tie things up for a short time, as the Tide posted four runs in the home half of that inning to regain the lead. The Bulldogs would not go quietly, adding one in the seventh and two in the eighth. Alabama countered with one run in the seventh before the five-run eighth blew it open.

Alabama was able to score in the final five innings and totaled double-digit runs for the 18th time this season. The offense was led by Colby Shelton, Tommy Seidl and Ed Johnson, who each homered in the game. Shelton finished 2-for-4 with a double, one run and a team-high tying four RBI, while Seidl matched Shelton's RBI total and went 2-for-3 with three runs and a walk. Johnson also finished 2-for-3 and contributed a double, three RBI and one run scored.

The win went to Tide reliever Aidan Moza (1-1) while Samford reliever Turner Thompson (1-1) was tagged with the loss.

"This was a really good win for our club, we played really well. The score was a little misleading in that it was so high, but our at-bats were really good. We hit some balls hard in the first three innings and we didn't have a lot to show for it, but we stuck with it and scored in the last five innings to put the game out of reach."

• B4 | Jim Jarvis started the inning with a hit-by-pitch and moved to second on a single from Tommy Seidl. Drew Williamson followed with a single of his own to cross the game's first run. Seidl advanced to third on the Williamson single and came home in the next at-bat thanks to a sacrifice fly from Dominic Tamez. (2-0, Alabama)
• B5 | Ed Johnson added one more run with a solo homer to left. (3-0, Alabama)
• T6 | A two-run home run from John Anderson cut the lead to one. The Bulldogs then tied it up on a solo shot from Lucas Steele. (3-3)
• B6 | Seidl and Williamson each singled before Colby Shelton brought the pair in on a home run to right. After a walk to Caden Rose, Johnson doubled him in to add one more. (7-3, Alabama)
• T7 | Garrett Staton cut into the lead with a solo home run. (7-4, Alabama)
• B7 | Jarvis led off with a triple and came home on a sac fly from Seidl. (8-4, Alabama)
• T8 | Samford loaded the bases with two down and used a two-run double to cut the Tide lead in half. (8-6, Alabama)
• B8 | Tamez began the inning with a double before Shelton scored him on a double of his own. Will Portera came in to pinch-run for Shelton and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a sac fly from Johnson. Two straight singles put runners on for Seidl, who proceeded to homer to straightaway center to add three more. (13-6, Alabama)

Postgame Notes

• The Crimson Tide reached 30 wins with tonight's victory. It marked the first time since 2006 that an Alabama team has had 30 wins on April 25.
• Alabama totaled double-digit runs for the 18th time this season and ninth time in a midweek.
• The Tide also tallied double-digit hits for the 26th time this year.
• Alabama has hit a home run in 33 of 42 games this season and has produced multiple homers 23 times. The Tide has also hit multiple home runs in each of the last five games dating back to last Tuesday's contest at UAB.
• Colby Shelton hit his team-leading 16th home run. His 16 home runs are the most by an Alabama freshman in program history. He passed the previous record of 15 by Ross Wilson (2008) and Jeremy Brown (1999). He's now chasing the SEC single-season record of 21 by Frank Thomas in 1987.
• Shelton's 16 homers are the most for UA since Chandler Taylor had 16 across the entire 2017 campaign.
• Dominic Tamez extended his hitting streak to eight games. Over that stretch, the junior is batting .433 (13-30) with four doubles, a triple, one home run, three RBI, six runs and four walks.
• Tommy Seidl homered in tonight's game to go with his home run on Sunday at Missouri. It marked the first time in his Alabama career that he has homered in consecutive matchups.
• Seidl has gotten aboard in 17 straight games dating back to March 28.
• Andrew Pinckney's reached base streak came to an end at 22 games. The streak dated back to March 17.
