TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama baseball completed the series sweep of High Point with a 4-2 win on Sunday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 8-0 on the season.

The low-scoring affair saw the Tide get on the board first with a run in the third. Alabama added two more in the fourth with High Point countering for two of their own in the top of the fifth. The Tide then returned the lead to two with a single tally in the home half of the fifth for the eventual 4-2 final.

Jacob McNairy (1-0) picked up the win on Sunday, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts. The bullpen took over following McNairy's exit, with Hagan Banks, Kade Woods and Riley Quick blanking the Panthers the rest of the way. Woods struck out five of the six batters he faced with Quick earning the save thanks to a scoreless ninth.

Alabama's offense was highlighted by Colby Shelton who recorded a solo home run, one RBI, a run scored and one walk from the leadoff spot. Bryce Eblin contributed one RBI on a sacrifice fly with Ed Johnson also notching an RBI on his single in the fifth.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon

"Jacob (McNairy) gave us a great start and the story of the game was the bullpen. Hagan Banks, Kade (Woods) and Riley (Quick) were just outstanding out of the pen, and that experience is going to be really important when we get into a lot more tight games as the season wears on. I'm excited to be 8-0 and really proud of the kids with how they competed against a good club in High Point."

How It Happened
