MOBILE, Ala. - Alabama baseball's Luke Holman and Alton Davis II combined to shut out South Alabama 4-0 on Tuesday evening at Stanky Field. The 22nd-ranked Crimson Tide is now 16-2 heading into Southeastern Conference play.

Luke Holman (4-0) was impressive once again, picking up his team-leading fourth win of the year. The sophomore tossed a career-high 7.0 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just three hits while striking out nine. Alton Davis II followed with 2.0 frames that included one punchout to secure the 4-0 victory.

Alabama's offense was powered by Will Hodo. The sophomore finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored. Hodo's two hits were a part of the Tide's 10 total in the contest.

"Obviously, the story of the game for us was Luke Holman. He was outstanding. Any time you go 7.0 shutout innings with three hits, no walks and nine punchouts, you give your team a chance to win. (Will) Hodo hit the two-run home run and then got the big two-out single and that was the story offensively for us. Overall, this was a great win and will give us some momentum headed to Gainesville."

T4 | Drew Williamson got aboard with a leadoff walk before stealing second to put himself in scoring position. On the very next pitch, Williamson came home thanks to an RBI-single from Dominic Tamez. (3-0, Alabama)

T5 | Caden Rose reached on a fielder's choice before stealing second. The play resulted in an errant throw that allowed the junior to move to third. One out later, Hodo singled to left to score Rose and make it a four-run ballgame. (4-0, Alabama)

• Luke Holman set a new career-high total for innings with 7.0 in tonight's start. His previous high was 5.0 last Tuesday at Samford.
• Holman finished with nine punchouts and now has 21 strikeouts across 12.0 innings of work in his last two starts.
• The Tide totaled 10 hits and has recorded double-digit hits in 14 of 18 games this season.
• Alabama has homered in 17 of the 18 games so far this season.
• Caden Rose has reached base safely in his last 36 consecutive games dating back to April 25.

First pitch in the series opener between Alabama and second-ranked Florida is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
