TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - A dominant day at the plate powered Alabama baseball to a 17-3 win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 9-0 overall.

Alabama set season-highs for hits, walks and runs in the midweek matchup. The Tide posted seven runs in the second to put the game out of reach early. UA added three in the third, six in the fourth and one in the eighth for 17 total runs. Jacksonville State got on the board with one in the fourth and two in the eighth but would get no closer for the 17-3 final.

Camden Hayslip and Bryce Eblin tied for the team-high RBI total with four apiece. Eblin, who got the start at second before moving to short, finished 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored to go with the RBI. Hayslip entered midway through the game and notched his four RBI on a grand slam, Alabama's first of the season. The sophomore wrapped up his afternoon 2-for-3 with one run scored. Caden Rose matched Eblin with a team-high three runs scored, part of his 0-for-0 day that included three walks in as many plate appearances.

Luke Holman (2-0) earned the win, his second in as many starts. The right-hander tossed 4.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with a career-high seven strikeouts.

"I'm really proud of the team today. We took a step forward. We were sharp on the mound for four innings, and then, obviously, we had a lot of production up and down the lineup. Any time you score 17 runs you have to be pleased. It was good to see a lot of hard contact and get a lot of guys in the game."

How It Happened

• B2 | Ed Johnson started the rally with a one-out single followed by a walk to Dominic Tamez. Jim Jarvis brought Johnson across in the next at-bat with an RBI-single. A walk loaded them up before a Bryce Eblin single through the right side added two more. Colby Shelton followed with a double to score one and put a pair in scoring position, forcing a JSU pitching change. The Tide then pinch-hit Will Hodo, with the sophomore reaching on an error to score two more. After a groundout moved Hodo to second, a single to center from Drew Williamson scored him to cap the seven-run frame. (7-0, Alabama)
• B3 | A pair of one-out walks and a single loaded the bases for Hodo, who plated a pair with a single to right. Another single in the next at-bat loaded them up once again, with a sacrifice fly from Williamson crossing one more. (10-0, Alabama)
• T4 | T.J. Reeves sent a solo home run over the wall in left. (10-1, Alabama)
• B4 | The Tide loaded the bases to start the inning before a double from Eblin added a pair. One out later, a walk to Hodo loaded them again. With the bases full, Camden Hayslip sent a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right-center for a grand slam. (16-1, Alabama)
• T8 | A fielder's choice and a wild pitch with the bases loaded scored a pair for the Gamecocks. (16-3, Alabama)
• B8 | A pair of walks started the inning with a fielder's choice getting an out at second and putting runners on the corners. After another out, Johnson sent a double to center to score one more. (17-3, Alabama)

Postgame Notes

• Alabama's nine-game winning streak to start the season ties for the seventh-longest in program history. The nine-game streak to start the new year has happened on three previous occasions, most recently by the 2018 team. The all-time record is 15 straight wins by the 1997 roster.
• Luke Holman's seven strikeouts in today's start are a new career-high total. His previous high for punchouts was four, which he had on two previous occasions and most recently at South Carolina on April 30 of last season.
• Alabama's 17 runs tie for the most in series history with Jacksonville State. The Tide also posted 17 runs on March 2, 2001, a 17-0 win for UA.
• The Crimson Tide finished with a season-high 16 hits and has totaled double-digit hits in eight of the nine contests so far.
• Alabama's 10 walks in the game were a new season-high total.
• Camden Hayslip hit his first career grand slam. His grand slam is the first of this season for the Tide and first since Bryce Eblin hit one against Arkansas on May 21 last season.
• Caden Rose reached base safely in today's matchup and has now gotten aboard in 27 straight contests dating back to April 25 of last season.
• Andrew Pinckney finished 1-for-3 and has recorded at least one hit in all nine games this season
