TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama baseball blanked UT Martin for a 10-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 5-0 on the young season.

Alabama used a pair of big innings for the midweek win. The Tide first put up a three-spot in the third before crossing six runs in the sixth inning. An RBI-single in the seventh gave Alabama a 10-run lead to secure the run-rule victory on Wednesday.

The Tide offense combined for 12 hits, including a pair of home runs from Mac Guscette and Drew Williamson. Guscette finished his day 1-for-1 with two RBI, a run and a pair of walks to go with the roundtripper while Williamson was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, a run and one walk.

Alabama's trio of Jackson Reynolds, Kade Woods and Riley Quick combined for the seven-inning shutout. Reynolds got the start, tossing 3.0 frames with three strikeouts before handing the ball to Woods (1-0). The redshirt freshman picked up the win with 3.0 innings that included one walk and five strikeouts. Quick took on the final frame, striking out a pair to secure the shutout win.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon "The game was tight there for the first four innings and the wind was howling, so it's really tough to score on a day like this. We have an older group of position players and a physical team. I think we're going to hit our share of home runs this year, but I didn't think it was going to happen today. It was good for us to be forced to play a little bit of a different way and a little bit outside of our comfort zone. We got rewarded by the baseball gods for putting some balls in play to get some infield singles, and Ed Johnson and Caden Rose dropped down a couple of beautiful bunts."

How It Happened B4 | Andrew Pinckney started the inning with the single and came across in the next at-bat. Drew Williamson singled through the right side to move Pinckney to third before a rundown of Williamson allowed the man from third to cross. After a pair of singles loaded the bases, William Hamiter reached on a fielder's choice that pushed across one more run. Following a pitching change, Ed Johnson dropped down a sacrifice bunt to score a third tally. (3-0, Alabama) B6 | Hamiter got aboard with a one-out double with Tommy Seidl then coming in to pinch-run. The change proved beneficial, with Seidl scoring on an Ed Johnson single in the next at-bat. Mac Guscette then cleared the bases with a two-run home run. After a walk and a singe put two on, Pinckney grounded out to short to push another run across. Williamson followed, sending a ball to straightaway center for a two-run home run. (9-0, Alabama) B7 | Max Williams got aboard with a one-out single before advancing to second on a passed ball. After a flyout moved him to third, Jaxson West singled up the middle to cross the Tide's 10th run and end the ballgame. (10-0, Alabama)

Postgame Notes

• The combined shutout was Alabama's first since April 24 of last season against Georgia. That game saw Grayson Hitt, Brock Guffey and Dylan Ray combine for the win.
• Alabama finished with 12 hits and has totaled double-digit hits in all five games to start the season. The five-game stretch with double-digit knocks marks the first time since April 2-9 of last season that the Tide accomplished the feat.
• Eight of the nine starters recorded at least one hit in today's game.
• All nine starters got aboard safely in the Wednesday contest.
• The home runs from Mac Guscette and Drew Williamson in the same inning marked the first time the Tide has hit a pair of homers in the same frame since Williamson and Eric Foggo did so in the first inning of last season's March 12 matchup with Binghamton.
• Williamson has now homered in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. He is the first Crimson Tide player to homer in three straight games since Owen Diodati last season from March 19-23.
• The graduate first baseman has now recorded a hit in each of the first five games of the 2023 campaign.
• Andrew Pinckney finished 1-for-4 and has tallied at least one hit in all five games this season.
• Caden Rose reached base safely in today's matchup and has now gotten aboard in 23 straight contests dating back to April 25 of last season.
• Rose scored one run and has recorded at least one run scored in all five games to start the year.

Alabama will remain at home for a weekend series with High Point. The Crimson Tide and Panthers will open the series with a 3 p.m. CT start on Friday followed by a 4 p.m. first pitch in Saturday's matchup.
