Ten from SEC track and field earn academic honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (June 23, 2022) --- Ten Southeastern Conference student-athletes have been named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Division I Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, according to announcements this week by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom.

Four SEC student-athletes garnered first team honors, including Vanderbilt's Nick Laning, Arkansas' Nastassja Campbell, LSU's Lisa Gunnarsson and Kentucky's Molly Leppelmeier.

Kentucky's Josh Sobota was named to the second team, while South Carolina's Sean Petersen, Kentucky's Jenna Gearing, Arkansas' Lauren Gregory, Tennessee's Hannah Jefcoat and Georgia's Shelby Tyler were named to the third team.

A total of 21 SEC track and field/cross student-athletes were named to the 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Teams earlier this summer.
