Player of the Week
Emile Hudd, Tennessee
Hudd, logged three ranked wins this week, including his clinch in Tennessee's 4-3 road win over No. 20 Florida. At the No. 2 singles lineup position Friday, Hudd surged past Florida's 92nd-ranked Will Grant in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to break the match's 3-3 tie and give the Vols the win, clinching for the second consecutive match. Sunday in Columbia, Hudd convincingly took down the nation's No. 11 singles player in No. 5 South Carolina's Connor Thomson, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Hudd's victory in Tennessee's 6-1 rout of the Gamecocks served as Hudd's seventh ranked singles victory of the season and third top-15 win of the campaign. A pair of those three triumphs have come in the dual season. In doubles Sunday, Hudd and partner Shunsuke Mitsui battled and won a tiebreaker against South Carolina's 31st-ranked Jake Beasley and James Story, winning 7-6(4) at the No. 2 spot. Hudd's big service game fended off a Gamecock match point on a 4-5 decider prior to the tiebreaker. At 24-5 on the doubles courts this season, Hudd is 18-4 in dual doubles action. Hudd is 10-2 (7-2 SEC) at the No. 2 singles spot this spring and 16-4 (9-1 SEC) at the No. 2 doubles position this season.
Freshman of the Week
Ethan Quinn, Georgia
Quinn, played a crucial part in helping Georgia capture at least a share of its 32nd regular season conference title this past weekend, earning key wins in doubles and singles across the team's two matches. In doubles with partner Trent Bryde, they handed top-ranked Toby Samuel and Connor Thomson of No. 5 South Carolina just their second loss of the year and their first loss in conference play by a 6-3 score, clinching the doubles point. With the win, the now fifth-ranked Bryde and Quinn earned their 15th win of the year together and their 11th on court one. This also marks their eighth victory against a ranked doubles team and the fourth time this season they have clinched the doubles point. On Sunday, after dropping the doubles point against No. 20 Florida, No. 4 Quinn responded in a big way. He swiftly defeated No. 81 Axel Nefve on court one in straight sets by a 6-3, 6-2 score, tying the match. With the win, Quinn improved to 21-10 this year, with 11 wins on court one in singles and 15 against ranked competition.
WOMEN
Co-Players of the Week
Anastasiya Komar & Kylie Collins, LSU
Komar and Collins started with a 6-3 win over Emma Antonaki and Dharani Niroshan at the top doubles court. In singles, Komar earned her eighth ranked singles win after defeating No. 104 Antonaki in a come-from-behind effort. Komar dropped the first set, 6-4, but replied with a 6-3 win in the second. The third set saw the two players split, 5-5, but Komar won the final two games to win the set, 7-5, and clinch victory. Against Ole Miss, Komar and Collins improved to 8-0 in doubles with a 6-3 win over Lillian Gabrielsen and Kelsey Mize at the top court. In singles, Komar scored LSU's first singles point of the afternoon after getting a straight set win over No. 69 Ludmila Kareisova. Komar edged set one, 6-4, and went on to comfortably win the second by a score of 6-2.
Mary Stoiana & Mia Kupres, Texas A&M
Stoiana and Kupres wasted no time claiming their first win of the week, the pair bested Anaëlle Leclercq-Ficher/Rachel Krzyzak on court 2 (6-1). No. 2 Stoiana continued that momentum into singles, as she bested No. 69 Ludmila Kareisova on court 1 to clinch the match for A&M. In the team's second match of the week with the Bulldogs, Stoiana and her partner went back to work, as they secured a repeat score dominating Gia Cohen/Maddie Bemisderfer (6-1). She rounded out the week claiming her 12th-straight win, outlasting No. 104 Emma Antonaki on court 1 (6-2, 7-5). Stoiana now holds 17 dual match singles wins, and remains undefeated in doubles dual matches across two partners at 14-0.
Freshman of the Week
Carolina Gomez Alonso, Arkansas
Alonso, completed a perfect weekend in SEC play, helping the Razorbacks finish off the upset over No. 12 Auburn and clinch the win over No. 50 Alabama. In singles play, Gomez Alonso earned her third ranked win against Auburn's No. 44 Ariana Arsenault by coming back to force a third set in a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Against the Crimson Tide, Gomez Alonso clinched the win for Arkansas for her sixth straight win in singles play. Gomez Alonso and partner Kelly Keller helped to secure the doubles point in both matches, making three straight doubles points for the Hogs. In the win over Auburn, Gomez Alonso and Keller were the clinching doubles court taking a 7-6 (5) tiebreaker over their Tigers opponents.
