ATHENS, Ga. - Despite allowing only one shot on goal, the University of Georgia soccer team played to a scoreless draw against the Auburn Tigers to finish the regular season Thursday evening before 1,205 spectators at the Turner Soccer Complex.

Georgia (8-4-5, 4-3-3 SEC) outshot Auburn (7-6-5, 3-4-3 SEC) by a 14-5 margin as it earned its first result in the series since 2015. Graduate Croix Bethune led the Bulldogs' offense with four shots, while freshmen Virginia Odom and Kiera Staude and graduate Hannah White each tallied two shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Brown had one save on the Tigers' single shot on frame throughout the 90 minutes.

"We've grown a lot from day one to the end of regular season year two," Georgia head coach Keidane McAlpine said following the match. "We're playing a much better style, much better energy on the ball, so I like what we're doing. I like the way we're playing."

Auburn opened the first period with a shot in the 15th minute as Brown notched her save for the evening. A minute later, the Tigers would take another shot. Auburn did not have another shot for the rest of the half as the Georgia defense worked to keep the ball in the Bulldogs' possession. The Bulldogs ripped eight shots throughout the remainder of the period.

In the 42nd minute, the Tigers took a free kick that sent the ball to the edge of the keeper's box. Auburn's Jessica Osborne sent a header into the back of the net to put the Tigers ahead by one before the shot was called offsides and the board remained blank to finish the half.

White opened the second period with a shot as the Bulldogs collected seven more throughout the half. In the 75th minute, senior Tori Penn worked her way through the Tigers' defenders and connected with the back of the net before another offsides call reversed the goal. A final Auburn attempt was off target in the final minute to finish the game in a draw.

"Our whole backline has really progressed throughout the whole season," sophomore defender Cate Hardin said. "We've really been put to the test a lot of times and the coaches put a lot of pressure on us. Our team relies on us a lot, so we are always put under a lot of pressure. I think I've grown as a player a lot so I'm really happy to see how much we've progressed all season."

"Having had the regular season we had, I have to be proud of that, but there's work to do," McAlpine said.

Georgia will be back in action in postseason play at the SEC Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Pensacola, Fla., with live coverage on SEC Network. The Bulldogs are guaranteed a first-round bye due to their SEC East Division championship. The complete tournament bracket and schedule will be announced tonight following the completion of regular season matches.
